Language and Literature

The Arts & Letters Division offers a major in English for those who wish to teach English and for those who desire to prepare for graduate study in English, religion, and law.  The English degree is the favorite choice for those who plan careers in fields which require critical thinking and clear expression.  For more information about the English major, call:

Dr. Ruth Ellen Porter (912) 583-3101

We offer a minor in Spanish for students who plan careers in which a proficiency in Spanish may be desirable or necessary. Many majors require study of a foreign language. The Division offers basic courses in Spanish.

Creative Expressions

The BA in English has the added advantage of allowing a student to focus on the fine arts by minoring in creative writing.  This emphasis prepares a student for work in a varitey of artistic and commercial areas, and it also provides unique preparation for graduate studies in writing-related fields.
